Borrowing quota and loan period Please refer to the following table for the number of items that may be borrowed at any one time and the length of time items may be kept. Unless the items concerned are recalled or requested by other users, loans can be renewed up to the maximum loan period.
Library Card Library users will be responsible for any use made of the Library Card issued to them. For any protection, contact the SUIBE Card Center immediately to report a lost or stolen card. Tel: 52067253; Room 201, North wing of the Library on Gubei Campus. Borrow & Return Library users who are eligible to borrow must use their SUIBE card in order to check out a circulating item. With a SUIBE card, users can borrow at the self-checkout machines or take the item to the Service Counter. Library materials kept at the Remote Storage are available for the use of our users. Library users may request these materials following the same Hold procedure. • NoticeBorrowed items are for the sole use of the cardholder and may not be passed on to any other person. Users are responsible for all items issued to their Library card, unless the card has been reported lost or stolen. This responsibility ends only when the item has been recorded as returned on the Library system. Users will be liable for any loss of, or damage to, books or other items while in their charge. Any loss or damage must be reported immediately to a member of Library staff. • RenewRenewing items allows you to extend the original loan period for an item already checked out by you. Borrowers can renew their loans in person or online via My Library Record anytime within 15 days before the due date. The new due date is calculated from the date of renewal. Except for items that have been recalled/requested by other library users, all loaned materials can be renewed anytime until the maximum loan period is reached. Please note once a recalled item is overdue all items under a user’s account will not be able to be renewed until the recalled item is returned. • Hold You may place a hold on an item that has been checked out by another user via the LibrarySearch. A Hold Pickup notice will be sent to you by email when your hold is ready for pickup. Items on hold have to be picked up by the date specified on the Hold Pickup notice, or else the holds will be automatically cancelled. • Recall A recall is a request to get an item back from another borrower as soon as possible. If you receive a Recall Notice, you should observe the new due date mentioned in the Recall Notice. • RegulationPlease note once a recalled item is overdue under a user’s account, you may not be able to borrow, renew and hold any other item until the recalled item is returned. To ensure receiving important notices from the Library without delay, users must add/update their email address via their My Library Record in the Library homepage. Reading Service Library users who are eligible to borrow must use their SUIBE card in order to check out a circulating item.
