The library of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics was founded in October 1960. It is consisted of Songjiang Campus Library (Main library) and Gubei Campus Library, and the total area is 23,500 square meters. Songjiang Campus Library (Main library) opened in August 2019, and it is a modern, fully open, self-serviced multifunctional library with a floor area of nearly 19,000 square meters. The newly renovated Gubei Campus library opened in September 2020, with a building area of 2,400 square meters and multifunctional areas, is committed to bringing new experience to teachers and students. The library adopts the management mode of One-door system, and the integration of books borrowing and lending. The books in both campuses can be borrowed and returned simultaneously.

With the construction policy of “overall planning, reasonable layout, relative concentration, practical effect and high-quality service”, the library provides readers with better services by carefully adjusting the layout and enriching the literature resources. The tenet of the library is “Focus on teaching and research, Based on students' success, To increase the characteristics of the Museum and Taking readers' satisfaction as the goal.” The library innovates work constantly, and strive to serve the construction of key disciplines, characteristic majors and quality courses of our university, and the success of students. The purpose of the library is to serve cultivating high-level, practical and international economic and trade talents with international vision, social responsibility, humanistic and scientific literacy. 

After decades of development, the library has basically established a literature resource guarantee system with foreign economic and trade characteristics. The  library has 1.64 million printed books in Chinese and foreign languages, and more than 1,000 newspapers and periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages. It has 2.26 million electronic books and more than 68,000 electronic periodicals. It has nearly 80 Chinese and foreign language databases. In addition, as the only registered library of WTO in Chinese mainland, our library is featured with WTO documents.

The library has six departments, including Administrative office, Resources Acquisition  Department, Information Service Department, Reader Service Department, Reading Promotion Activity Department, Gubei Branch. All librarians unite as one, adhering to the service concept of “Management, everything is for use; Services, all for the readers”, is committed to provide quality services for all teachers and students, through the service of literature borrowing, room service, science, and reading promotion, reference consultation, document delivery and information literacy education and intelligent equipment service diversified services. The library present all-round services to teachers and students, and provide adequate literature guarantee for the school discipline construction, teaching, scientific research and talent training, and innovate the reader service mode in practice constantly.
